How can I contact CIC?
Categories: Immigration Help
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) offers several ways to contact them for visa and immigration questions.
If you are within Canada, you can call the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) call centre for immigration and visa questions. The call centre number is 1-888-242-2100. (Please note, this number will likely only work within Canada.)
You can find more information at the CIC Call Centre website.
CIC encourages users to make use of the website as much as possible to avoid long wait-times at the call centre.
If you are outside of Canada, you can usually call your local Canadian visa office. Canada has High Comissions, Embassies and Consulates worldwide who can provide some information. You can find the nearest Canadian Visa Office to you at the CIC website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/offices/apply-where.asp
In many cases, your question can can also be answered by a Canadian immigration consultant or lawyer. If you wish, you can also speak to a registered Canadian immigration consultant or lawyer. Qualified counsel can help advise you of your options and answer your immigration questions.

Please note that immigration consultants and lawyers work for private companies and will almost always charge a fee for immigration advice.

If you need to call the normal in-Canada CIC call centre, some people have been able to call CIC from outside of Canada on +1 613 944 4000.
I am Currently working in Canada on work visa. I have invited my Father and Mother to make visit to Canada. They applied for visitor visa
in Dec 2007 and Canada Embassy in India issue Visitor VISA to them
They Landed in Vancouver Dt. 04-June-2008 .Please suggest how long they can stay in Vancouver Canada.
can we apply for a social insurance card and OHIP when our application for PR is “in the process?”
Hi Ankur, your parent’s visas should have expire dates on them. This date is the date that the visas expire, and are no longer valid in Canada. Alternatively, if you contact CIC and quote the visa reference numbers, they should be able to confirm the date for you. Visitor visas are usually valid for 6 months from the date of entry.
Hi vickie. Are you currently in Canada or outside? You will need a Canadian postal address for your SIN and OHIP. Please also note that OHIP is the Ontario health plan, not Alberta’s. It;s recommended to apply for your health insurance as soon as your arrive so that you are covered as soon as your 3 month residency requirement finishes.
Hello, i am 30 years old and from wales in uk. I am a painter and have been for 1 year. Am i eligible for a skilled worker visa, a working holiday visa or a temporary working visa with a view to actually living in canada for more than 1 year?
Many thanks for your help, i have been told so many different things.
As I have sponsering my mother ,sister and brother(adopted by my mom) but unfortunately they were rejected during interview process except my mom, on the basis that in india’ s law does not allow adoption from thier own family members and my sister was rejected on the basis of her over age (26), even though she is going to school,
another thing I like to say as a visa office (DELHI)told to my family that the mother of adopted son has to come for interview but when she got there she didn’t let into the office for interview.
please if some one help me to overcome from this situation as I have waited a long period of time to meet my family .hopefully I’ill get my answer.

I immigrated to Canada from England during the war, in 1946, with my mother who married a Canadian. I need to find out when I arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We came over on the Queen Mary from Liverpool, England when I was only about 1-1/2 - 2 years old and my mother has no records of our arrival. How can I find out the month and day of our arrival? The Canadian government requires this date in order for me to apply for old age security.
My friend have landed in Jan05 and my PR will expire in Jan2010. They have so far spent 5 mnths in three years time inside Canada . Will they be able to enter Canada again before the expiry? What will be the deadline for them to enter?

How to apply for “urgent” case for PR card renewal? I have waited for my new PR card for more than 3 months, no response yet.
Hello,
I’m visiting Canada on a two years with multiple entries business visa.
On my arrival in Canada I just received one stamp on my passport (the one with the entry date). I have no exit date stamped on my passport.
My ticket back home is on 1st of February 2009 and I entered in Canada on November, 12 2008. I intend to change my return date for travelling reasons with 7 weeks but I’m not sure about how long I am allowed to stay in Canada on this current travel.
I know that legally I can stay 6 months but I’m concern that if I’ll extend my current trip I might have problems next time when I will want to enter in Canada. Can you please advice me in this problem?
or please inform me if you know:
How can I receive an answer from an authority, is there any phone number that I can call?
Another question:
During this trip I went in US for visiting and when I re-enter in Canada I received another stamp with an entrance date and no exit date again.
My question is:
the six months that I can stay once in Canada will be consider from the first entrance or the second one?
Thank you.

hi
do you now how long the background checke tike for sponsership applaction,
I applied for a new work permit because i changed my employer…I was about to send my application together with receipt payment ( i paid it in the bank) to albert when my employer decided to try submitting it here in st. clair. When i gave them my application papers and all the requirements that were attached on it they did not accept the receipt but rather told us to pay in cash, so my employer used her credit card to pay for the work permit, (we’re unable to asked the person why the receipt that i paid in the bank was not accepted) and the person told us that i can still use it for the renewal of my work permit in case i’m still working to the same employer, he gave me only up to dec. 2009 because my passport will expire on dec 2009. I went to the bank and asked them if i can refund the payment that i’ve made, and they told me i cannot because as soon as you pay there is account no wherein your payment will automatically goes to the government account. So my question is, can i still use the receipt for my renewal of work permit and does it has an expiration.
Thank you and i appreciate your response.
I was applying for permanent resident since Oct. 2006 I am wondering why my application until now there’s no result yet.

My mother has applied for visitor visa for canada. She has been to canada 2 yrs back on visitor visa and now applied the second time.First time she had applied when she was in US Atlanta. And she went back before the visa expired. This time she applied from India and she was told to get the medical done. The medical was done on 27 March 2009 but till now until April 14 th there is no reply. The local doctor who is a designated med practitioner from immigration deptt admitted that he sent the report one week after the medical was done becuase he had gone out of town for personal reason.Which is very irresponsible. But now I dont know how much time it will take for her to receive a reply and she was coming for my delivery on April 15th which became impossible now for her to be here when the baby is coming.Plz suggest

My case is a bit complicated.
I am from India. My wife applied for immigration in 2004 including my name as well as my daughter’s name. In 2008 when we were in newyork, US she received papers from UK visa office for sending passports for immigration visas. she sent her and my daughter’s passports for visas, which were stamped on their passports. whereas for me she said my name is not added for visa, WHEREAS my name was mentioned in the papers she received from visa office UK and all my paperwork was also done including medical, police verification etc. she lateron moved to canada with my daughter and i moved to India as my father was critically ill. she lateron filed a divorce from me with sole custody of the child. i need to know CAN I PURSUE THE IMMIGRATION CASE? WAS I ALSO APPROVED FOR PR in CANADA? WHAT EFFECT WILL MY WIFE’S PERMANENT RESIDENCE HAVE AFTER THE DIVORCE? Kindly help me out by giving me a response. Thank you in advance
